2. Trust your gut instinct
If you have a bad feeling about something, there's probably a reason. Nobody knows you better than you, so don't let anyone or anything compromise your integrity.
Doing something you're not comfortable with will probably come back to bite you in the ass down the line, and you're worth a lot more than that. Are we right?
3. Don't take no for an answer
Take a creative approach to getting what you want, and use your own unique abilities to get around any obstacles along the way.
If you've got your sights set on your goal, why let something small stop you getting what you want? By getting out of your comfort zone, you'll soon find yourself reaping the rewards, and absolutely loving it.
4. Don't let other people take credit for your hard work
How many times have you let someone else take all the glory when you've done the hard graft? That needs to stop.
If you've solved a problem at work, led on a project, or helped to make a positive change, make sure the right people know exactly who's done it.
Put yourself out there and be proud of what you've accomplished; sometimes those rewards don't manifest all by themselves.
5. Know who your true friends are
Once you hit your twenties, it becomes clear who your real friends are. Guard them and keep them close, because none of us can do everything alone.
You already know who you can trust; now it's time to ditch the naysayers. Don't hesitate to end a relationship when you've been screwed over. #SorryNotSorry
6. Grow a thick skin
There's a difference between constructive criticism and bullying. Learn it, and don't let the bullies get the better of you.
When someone puts you down, it says more about them than you. Sometime you just gotta shake it off…
7. Choose your battles
Know what you stand for and what's worth fighting for. When things start spinning out of control, step back and focus on the important stuff.
Don't waste your energy on minor problems and petty people. Because let's face it, ain't nobody got time for that.
8. And finally, never give up!
Failure is merely the final step before success. From JK Rowling and Oprah, to Steve Jobs and Michael Jordan, some of the most successful people in the world have overcome failure to reach the pinnacle of their fields.
In the words of the late great Aaliyah: "If at first you don't succeed, dust yourself off and try, try, try again."
