For most of us, our playschool crush was just our best friend who we never wanted to be separated from.
We sat next to them, ate lunch together, played every day.
Chances are they were the perfect girlfriend/ boyfriend without the feelings involved.
So, when Amy Giberson met Justin Pounders aged 3, there was no way she could know what lay ahead.
The pair were dubbed ‘childhood sweethearts’ by their former teacher Diane Twar, who told People:
“They had a blast with each other. It was a quiet, bashful romance. They liked each other from afar, it was a young love, like a sweet crush, you know? They insisted on sitting next to each other in our school picture.”
Right after that class picture, the pair went their separate ways, grew up and moved on with life.

Until they both found themselves single online.
Like a lot of people nowadays, they had both decided to give online dating a try, and Justin says something drew him to Amy’s picture:
“I saw her photo and for whatever reason, was instantly drawn to her. She just had this great energy, you could tell. I can’t explain it, but I knew I had to get to know this girl.”
After the obligatory wooing of texts and phone calls, they pair met in person and started dating. Amy said:
“Of course, at that point, we still didn’t know we had been pre-K sweethearts, but when we met up and we hugged, it was like I had known him my whole life. When I first saw him, I felt that I was staring at the man I was going to marry.”

It was only a year later they started connecting all the dots…
Justin admitted he had loved Amy’s name because of a childhood crush on a girl he once knew, when his other half started realising they’d attended the same playschool.
That’s when they realised they had known each other 30-years ago.
Speaking to People, Amy said:
“We asked our parents to dig up any preschool photos they had. Justin’s mom found a photo of the two of us together and I just started crying, I was ecstatic. I was the Amy he had liked all those years ago! It was definitely meant to be.”
Now to root out all OUR old playschool snaps…
*Totally unrelated. We swear*
