Some very helpful tips here.

JPMorgan is one of the world’s most prestigious companies, so we would take any advice from their staff very seriously.

Michelle Bucaria is their head of experienced and campus recruiting and she has revealed to Business Insider some tips as well some of the biggest errors that applicants make when going for jobs at the finance giant.

1. Typos.
Bucaria says this is more common than we all think, and it looks very sloppy.

2. Being Too Specific On Your CV

If you’re too narrow in your CV or cover letter about what type of work you are looking for, you could inadvertently cut yourself off from other areas within the company. According to Bucaria: “That can dismiss you when you didn’t even mean to be dismissed.”

3. Be Inquisitive and attend events

Ask a lot of questions at recruitment events while you’re still in college, as this will give people a good first impression and they may remember you come graduation time.

4. Don’t overstate your skills.

Make sure you can concisely describe your achievements and skills in an interview, and that they match what’s written on your CV.

5. Research as much as possible.

Ask questions that make it clear that you have researched the company properly, and ask specific questions in the interview rather than vague or broad ones. This will make it look like you are really invested in the company.
