They’ve just announced 25,000 extra seats.

Aer Lingus has announced a brand new route from Cork as part of their winter schedule and we’re absolutely delighted.

The airline announced the news this week that they’ll now be flying from Cork airport to the Portuguese capital, Lisbon.

Yes, people down south will now be able to fly to one of the most popular sun-destinations of the moment without making the trek to Dublin.

From October 26 this year, the route will operate twice weekly all year round and fly passengers to the hugely popular Portuguese city which boasts glorious sunshine, grand boulevards and delicious cuisine!

Lisbon now joins the list of European cities that includes Paris, Amsterdam and Munich that Aer Lingus flies to from Cork.

It is expected Aer Lingus’ winter operations out of Cork will grow by almost 25,000 seats as a result of the new Lisbon route and increased number of routes to Tenerife.

“We are delighted to announce a new route for Cork and further grow our base at one of Europe’s leading airports,” Aer Lingus COO Mike Rutter said of the announcement.

“The new Cork Lisbon route will begin as part of our winter programme and will operate year-round and allows us to grow our presence at Cork Airport, which remains a key priority for Aer Lingus.”

Fares from Cork to Lisbon will start from just €39.99 and will be available online from next Wednesday.
