Appy Days: Beat All The Travel Guides With Wikihood

The app you didn’t realise you need on your phone.

Her

How many times have you wandered around a city, looking at a travel guide and wondered which sites were worth rooting for a snap?

Or, maybe you rely on the locals to point you in the direction of the market for the best food to tuck into on a trip.

Wikihood is an app combining the maps of a local area and Wikipedia entries. When the app is installed, simply enable the location services and Wikihood will determine your location showing entries about the top places, and events near you.

The location services lists create an instant stream of historical buildings, famous tourist sites and public transit routes. Feeling peckish? Take some tips from noted bars, restaurants as well as spots to relax with parks on the app too. If you choose not to enable location services, you can still search the Wikihood map to learn about any place in the world.

As if that wasn’t enough to beat any travel guide from the book shop, the app is completely free to download.

Now all you have to worry about it taking the shots.
