You might have guessed it, but we’re big fans of emojis.
Sometimes, you just can’t get the words out, but your whole emotional spectrum can be answered by a wide-eyed monkey, or a crying laughing smiley face.
Now Finland are creating a series of ‘national emojis’ as an early Christmas present and to promote the country’s image.
Not only are they the first country in the world to launch its own country themed emoji sticker set – they’ve decided to pick the symbols that best represent ‘ThisisFINLAND’.
Released as a series of advent calendar surprises, we’ve already been promised a trip down memory lane with the Nokia 3310 from our childhood being amongst the symbols set to take over their phones.
Other promised additions include images of naked people in saunas and headbanging metal fans.
The free icons are being released through the national tourism site ‘This is Finland’ and the symbol fun kicks off from December 1st.
You will be able to download the entire collection at a later date – although who’d want to wait on to take a trip back to our pre-teen years oozing with ‘wb x’ sentiment emojis?
Speaking about the initiative, Petra Theman of the Finnish foreign ministry explained:
“The Finland emojis were designed with a tongue-in-cheek approach, but I hope they will tell the world not only about our special features, but also something about our strengths.”
It’s like Christmas come early… *Insert Santa emoji*
