1. RTÉ Radio 1’s Doc on One 

This brilliant collection of top quality Irish radio documentaries is the perfect company for a long weekend drive.

Packed full of quirky stories from people from every walk of life, it’s not hard to see why it has racked up such an impressive array of awards. Take a look at some of the best ones here.

2. The Penguin Podcast

One for the book lovers. Richard E. Grant, a self-professed nosey-parker, interviews authors, comedians, musicians and actors about their latest books. In each episode, the writer is invited to discuss five objects that helped inspire and shape their writing.

Start with the hilarious Bill Bryson interview, and take it from there!

3. Adnan Syed’s Hearing – Serial

If you’re one of the 100 million people who downloaded season one of Serial, why not re-visit the story and listen to the three bonus episodes released earlier this month.

There’s a reason this is one of the world’s most popular podcasts. Its back catalogue (now 549 episodes) is a treasure trove of some of the most thoughtful, well-researched and hilarious stories you’ll hear on radio.

A new show is released every week, but classic episodes worth starting with include The Giant Pool of Money, Christmas and Commerce and Harper High School.

5. Criminal
