Frustrated American Idol Fans Re-Routed To Pizzeria During Voting Period

We'd be so mad if we were actually rooting for someone

American Idol fans and pizza lovers in the Port Angeles area were very frustrated last Wednesday.

Fans of the show were desperately calling to vote for their favorite idol last Wednesday but found that they were speaking to some very confused people in Washington.

The calls were routed to a 50-year-old pizzeria in Port Angeles called Gordy’s Pizza and Pasta.

In season 4, the wrong numbers for three contestants were shown on screen, causing millions of votes to go uncounted and, in season 8, calls for one contestant went to an adult entertainment company.

The strangest part was that it’s not clear why the calls were routed to Gordy’s for two hours Wednesday night. The number that was advertised for voters — 855-443-6411 — is not similar to the number of the pizzeria.

The restaurant’s owner said that it was possibly a mistake that was made when the calls were routed through AT&T. He hopes the mix up gets sorted out before next Wednesday’s episode.
