Gardaí around the country are today implementing ‘Operation Mobile Phone’ to crack down on the number of drivers using devices on the roads.
The checks began yesterday in Limerick, with Gardaí from Mayorstone stopping more than 30 drivers in guilty of the offence.

Updates on the Gardaí Twitter page indicate that “too many” people had been caught using phones in Fermoy, Co. Cork.
The checks will be occurring nationwide today so if you want to stay safe and avoid a fine, best put down the mobile.
