Does this sound familiar?

When sex is good, it’s mind blowing but from time to time physical activity of the sexual kind can prove painful and well, that’s no fun for anyone.

This can be caused by a number of factors including sensitivity to condoms, hormonal changes leading to vaginal dryness, genital infections and stress.

There are a couple of things that can help to make things more comfortable and if dryness in your nether regions is an issue, lubrication is key as this gynaecologist-approved tip tells us.

Aside from applying lube before sex, using a vibrator on a regular basis can make a major difference according to Mary Jane Minkin, an obstetrician-gynaecologist and clinical professor.

In conversation with Women’s Health, she explained why this works:

“Vibrators increase pelvic blood flow, and blood flow leads to lubrication. They can also ward off muscle weakening in the pelvic area that, over time, can lead to sexual dysfunction and painful sex”.

If you find pain during sex is a regular occurrence, then change things up and try different positions. Just because one angle isn’t working for you doesn’t mean another won’t.

The most important thing (as cheesy as it sounds) is communication. If you can’t tell your partner what you want, how is he or she meant to know?

It’s not always as simple as that but these tips in combination might just ensure a significant improvement in the quality of your sex life.
