On Sunday, Robert Cinnamond’s grandmother was served dinner.

She received a bowl of beans and what appears to be two small slices of corned beef.

According to Robert, who shared a photo of the dinner on Facebook, the meal was “freezing” on arrival.

His grandmother currently lives in Cregagh Care Home in Belfast.

Robert said it costs £600 per week for her to stay there.

“For a woman that’s worked all her days and has now ended up in (a) care home to be feed like a dog!!! [sic],” he wrote.

“CREGAGH CARE HOME LTD u should be ashamed!!!!!!

“Not only serving this but that fact it was freezing on arrival!!!!

“THERE’S 1 THING MY GRANDMOTHER ISN’T A DOG N NOUR WILL BE FEED LIKE 1. [sic]”

Robert said that he only discovered the quality of the meal being served because he was in the home himself when it arrived.

He also said that he was “upset” with the care that his grandmother is being given in the care home.

Robert’s post sparked anger online with many Facebook users stating that the establishment should be “ashamed” of itself.

“Bloody disgrace,” wrote one user named Kelly Brown.

“Is this a joke?” asked another user, Jordan John.

In a statement in the Belfast Telegraph, Spa Nursing Homes said that they take caring for residents “very seriously” and that a “full investigation has commenced after which any points raised will be actioned.”

“As a company we take residents’ wellbeing very seriously, treating every resident as an individual, incorporating all aspects of care.”
