Irish people are loving this women on Humans of New York

Cassie Delaney

Humans of New York is one of the most colourful crevices on the Internet.

Photographer Brandon Stanton captures everyday people with snippets of excellent conversation.

Stanton says:

“Humans of New York began as a photography project in 2010.  The initial goal was to photograph 10,000 New Yorkers on the street, and create an exhaustive catalogue of the city’s inhabitants.”

“Somewhere along the way, I began to interview my subjects in addition to photographing them. And alongside their portraits, I’d include quotes and short stories from their lives.”

Now, Stanton has photographed faces all over the world and has met and immortalized various leaders.

Still, his passion is the everyday and his latest subject is being adored for her simple and hilarious story.

She says:

“My sister moved in, her five cats moved in, and her ex-husband moved in. It’s driving me nuts. My sister watches those murder programs. And her ex-husband is Irish so he keeps talking about the potato famine. He loves that potato famine. Always the potato famine. And those cats. Little Louie is sweet, but the biggest cat looks like Garfield and won’t stop meowing. His name is Nitro. I’m trying to keep it together. I just picked up one of those positive thinking books.”

Sounds quite familiar.
