A line-by-line analysis of McGregor’s ridiculous International Women’s Day post

Jade Hayden

Yesterday, it was International Women’s Day.

It was a time for celebrating women’s achievements, highlighting the many discriminative issues we still face, and just generally giving us a bit of the recognition we so keenly deserve.

In light of this, lots of people took to Instagram to share some #inspirational quotes from #inspirational women.

Conor McGregor also took to Instagram to, eh, celebrate IWD too.

Except instead of celebrating it, he told us all to get our “tits out for the lads” and then started on 50 Cent again.

It was weird. Here’s a line-by-line analysis of his post.

“Happy International Women’s Day everyone!”

McGregor begins his post with a seemingly genuine statement – a wish for everybody to have a happy International Women’s Day.

How sound of him.

“Get your tits out for the lads ladies. We love you.”

Oh, OK.

I mean, we could get our tits out the lads, but it being IWD and all, we generally only like to do that when it’s on our terms.

It’s a bit strange that that’s the line McGregor chose to go with on a day that exists to champion women but yeah, alright, whatever.

“Superior genes my big ballsack mate.”

Hang on, what?

“I am made of granite. You need a bra. You jabbed up fool.”

This is the point where McGregor conveniently forgets his IWD reference and instead begins laying into 50 Cent.

In case you weren’t aware, McGregor and 50 Cent have had an ongoing feud for a while now. It started in the run up to his fight against Floyd Mayweather and has continued ever since.

We’re not really sure what it’s about but it’s probably vaguely important, maybe.

McGregor then paid a brief return to his IWD themed post by suggesting that 50 Cent needed to wear a bra. Like the big woman he is.

Get it?

“Hahahaha you should have stayed quiet and promoted that fight for me on the free like you did. But you just kept going with them fucking memes.”

Memes = bad, apparently.

“You’re 50, 50.”

Here, McGregor is alluding to the fact that 50 Cent is 50-years-old.

Except he’s not, he’s 42. Whatever, it’s grand.

“50 years old.”

See above.

“Fuck off.”

McGregor tells 50 Cent to fuck off. A blunt and harsh statement, yet one that is sure to cut to the core of this so-called feud.

“It’s all love tho fifty serious, you are a mad bastard, but we still proper love a few of your tunes over on this side of the world.”

So wait, are McGregor and 50 Cent friends again now?

“I even blasted one of them on the free walking into madison square garden to take one of my belts.”

Nah, they’re not, he just likes some of his songs. Probably the iconic In Da Club.

“It was called I Run New York.”

No, never mind, it was called I Run New York.

All in all, a stellar and not at all problematic post here from McGregor to mark International Women’s Day.

And to think, all Rupi Kaur did was write some poems.
