A man is threatening to sue the Catholic Church following a bishop’s ‘obsessive relationship’ with his wife.
Simon Hodgkinson from Brighton said the affair between Bishop Kieran Conroy and his wife Olivia led to the breakdown of his marriage.
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, Hodgkinson said:
“The thought of losing my wife to someone who has behaved so irresponsibly is awful.
“He has abused his authority to the extent that he has allowed a married woman and mother of two children to sleep in his house and he has been completely blind to the emotional impact.”
Bishop Conroy resigned from his post as Bishop of Arundel and Brighton after admitting breaking his vow of celibacy. Despite admitting the decision comes following an affair with a woman six years ago, he has denied his relationship with Mrs. Hodgkinson.
Mr. Hodgkinson, who found love letters between his wife and the then-bishop plans to bring the Catholic Church to the High Court to find out how much it knew of the bishop’s sexual relationships.
Bishop Conroy has denied any physical relationship with Olivia Hodgkinson.
