This new ad is the first EVER to feature blood on a period pad

It's about time, really.

Finally.

How many times has a lad come up to you and asked whether period blood is actually blue?

Never?

Us neither, but judging by the way sanitary towel companies like to advertise their products, you’d almost be forgiven for thinking that it was.

We’re all so used to seeing the elusive clear, blue gel being dropped on pads, and women in white jeans jumping around on space hoppers (yes, really), that an accurate representation of being on your period almost seems too good to be true.

But thanks to Bodyform, it’s not anymore.

The company’s new campaign, #bloodnormal, aims to state something so obvious that it shouldn’t really need stating – that people bleed on their periods, and it’s actually pretty normal.

They also released a fantastic new advert featuring, for the first time ever, blood on a period pad.

The advert also shows a woman with blood on her legs in the shower, a man picking up some pads down the shop, and some lad dressed up as a pad at a house party.

Alright, that last one might not be a total accurate representation, but we’re still here for it.

This isn’t the first time that Bodyform has broken some boundaries with their menstruation advertising either.

Last year, they were the first company to ever feature blood of any kind in their ads.

And now, thank god, they’ve gone one step further and introduced blood on a period pad… and people are only full of praise for them.

“I’m glad you’ve done this, nice one!” said one Twitter user.

“Next up: bleary-eyed shoving white bedsheets into washing machine at 7 in the morning whilst cursing profusely,” said another.

We’d tend to be in agreement on that one.
