This is the ONE wedding trend Martha Stewart would like to see go away NOW

There are few things in life more exhilaratingly exciting than planning your wedding.

From the moment you have that ring on your finger, the majority of us go into full frantic planning mode, creating Pinterest board after Pinterest board bursting with images of dreamy decor and frothy dresses – in fact, I will go as far as saying the planning process is almost as much fun as the day itself.

The thing is; when it comes to wedding trend – like trends in general – they tend to come and go. And when you are an industry insider like Martha Stewart, you pretty much see it all when it comes to wedding fads, but that doesn’t mean that the crafts, food- and homemaker mogul has to love them all equally.

And, in fact, there is ONE particular trend Stewart would like to see coming to an end now: Long engagements.

Yup. That’s right. The wedding guru claims that once you have said ‘yes,’ you might as well get your skates on.

“Once engaged, speed it up,” Martha told POPSUGAR at the Martha Stewart Weddings Party, “Don’t get engaged and think you’re going to last three years. The three-year engagement I think is becoming passé. I personally hate anything longer than six months engagements.”

While many brides-to-be enjoy a longer engagement, giving them time to both save for and prepare for their big day, Stewart doesn’t believe it’s necessary, especially because she thinks current brides-to-be are luckier than past generations. She added, “Millennial brides have it easier. They all have money and are employed — or most of them, and they’re smart. So they are planning the unusual, the different, and the exciting kinds of weddings.”
