Paddy McKenna Reveals That He Is Leaving 2fm Show Weekenders

It won't be the same without him

RTÉ 2fm is waving goodbye to one of its most popular presenters.

Paddy McKenna, who is also the editor of our brother site JOE.ie, has revealed that he is leaving Weekenders which he presents with Ruth Scott.

He announced the news on Instagram today, explaining that he wants to spend more time with his family.

He wrote: “After 5 brilliant years co-hosting Weekenders with Ruth Scott, I’ve taken the decision to leave the show. This weekend will be my last.”

He added: “It’s a great place to work… I’m looking forward to spending weekends with my little family but I’m not gone too far.”

Speaking about the news, Head of 2fm Dan Healy said: “I understand completely Paddy’s need to balance things particularly when you have a young family and so it is our loss that Paddy will finish broadcasting today on 2fm.

“Paddy is a very talented man and I hope that we get the opportunity to work again with him on 2fm. On behalf of Jim and I we thank him for all he has done for 2fm and wish him and his family all that is good.”
