Yeah, we’re bawling.

The loss of a pet is something that is truly devastating.

We all know that they don’t live as long as humans, but that doesn’t make the loss any easier.

A police department in Pennsylvania recently endured the loss of their furry colleague.

And they gave him a wonderful send off.

Gorgeous Tazer served on the Newberry Township Police force for eight-and-a-half years, as part of its K9 program.

The good boy received two Medals of Valour, a Meritorious Service Medal and four Chief Commendations.

All in all, he has an incredible career.

Sadly, Tazer’s handler (and BFF), Sergeant Martinez, recently discovered that the doggo was not well, suffering from a bad case of bone cancer.

“He was not limping, he was not showing any indication he had bone cancer, and bone cancer hurts. But Tazer, true to his spirit, just continued to be Tazer.”

And so, the tough decision was made, and it was decided that Tazer should not suffer.

Tazer received the send off her truly deserved, with a number of police officers giving him a final farewell.

Sergeant Martinez walked Tazer into the vets as around 70 officers saluted.

One of the officers was reduced to tears by the emotional moment.

And so were we, tbh.

Dr Lewis Hartman, the vet who handled Tazer’s case, said: “The overwhelming respect that all these police officers from all these different departments showed… It was very much a traditional police ceremony.”

“The fact that Tazer walked right alongside Officer Martinez, through the corridor into the exam room… It was incredible the level of Tazer’s strength, stamina, spirit.”

“For him to walk when he had bone cancer in both rear legs, that was incredible.”

RIP Tazer. We hope you’re enjoying that big dog park in the sky.
