Spotlight On: Getting Jiggy With It – Six Reasons To Have Sex Tonight

As if we needed another excuse!

Na na na na na na na, na na na na na na.

The weather might be wet, cold and miserable as we zoom towards winter, but that doesn’t mean you need to curl into a ball and binge-watch Netflix (though seriously, how amazing does that idea sound right now?)

Instead, we’ve come up with some fabulous reasons why you should be hopping under the covers with your loved one and banishing those autumn blues with a bit of hanky panky.

Here’s just some of our favourites… They’re all scientific ya know!***

It’s a serious mood enhancer

Feeling down? Got those Monday morning blues? We promise, getting up close and personal with your partner will automatically boost your mood and make all those worries and stresses seem like a million miles away.

It’s exercise!

The rain and generally all-round iffy weather can have a major impact on our motivation to get out and about and do some exercise, but some of the best exercise in the world is right there under your own roof (and under the covers). Remember, 30 minutes of foreplay and intercourse can burn up to 108 calories. It’s a no-brainer really!

Sleeping beauty

As if we didn’t need another reason to run into the bedroom, it has been shown that having sex also helps you to sleep soundly. Oxytocin, a hormone released during orgasm, actually helps to promote sleep so once you’re sexually satisfied, you are more likely to drift off into the land of nod.

It’s a great boost

And we mean a boost for your immune system. Research carried out on college students showed that those who had sex once or twice a week had 30 per cent higher levels of infection-fighting antibodies than those who did not have sex.

Great painkiller

Have a banging headache? Sex has been proven to help pains such as headaches, sore muscles and PMS symptoms.

Less stress…

More success. Sex is also said to reduce stress and help you cope with the pressures of work and life better. Enough said.

And finally… Just to round it all off
