Many pockets of the country escaped the worst of the weather yesterday, while the likes of Galway and Cork took a battering.
It seems as though no area will emerge unscathed from the storms though, as today Met Éireann has elevated the weather warnings to a status Orange across the country.
High tides, flooding and gale force winds are all to be expected over the coming hours.
The winds have already resulted on the loss of electricity supply to many homes in the west and south of the country, with ESB crews already working on outages.
Belfast police have told residents to prepare for evacuation in areas of the city if the predicted tidal surge occurs.
Speaking to Newstalk, Evelyn Cusack said; “Yet another Atlantic storm tracked close to Ireland is just off the northwest coast at the moment, so we've had gusts of up to Violent Storm Force 11 and that’s gusts in excess of 130kmph. It’s at its most intense now and for another two hours, swiping through the northwest but may parts of Ireland getting fairly strong winds and some very heavy rain."
