Okay so this is so stupid it may take a moment to get your head around it.
Pharmaceutical trader and rap-music investor, Martin Shrekli isn’t really too liked. He’s actually pretty hated since he bought Daraprim, a drug used to treat AIDS patients, and hiked the price up by roughly 5,000%.
Not a great way to make friends.
Well since a conviction of fraud in 2015, Shrekli has stepped down from the pharmaceutical trade and turned his talents to rap music.
First off, he bought Wu-Tang Clan’s one-of-a-kind album, Once Upon A Time In Shaolin, for $2 million.
That all went a bit pear-shaped when one of the group’s members, Ghostface Killer, called him “a fake a** super-villain”.
Looks like its has gone a bit awry for him again when he tried to purchase the rights to Kanye’s new album: The Life of Pablo.
Shrekli publically offered the rapper $10 million for the album before apparently increasing his offer to $15 million.
Some opportunistic internet scoundrel saw the tweet and claimed to be one of Kanye’s “boys”. Unsurprisingly he wasn’t and when Kanye dropped the album on Jay Z’s TIDAL, it quickly became apparent that Shrekli had been conned.
The series of tweets tell a sad and almost unbelievable story.
aiyo @kanyewest last minute can i buy your album out so it dont get released publicly

Kanye and his label are legally required to take my offer letter to their Board of Directors. This should delay the album by a few days.
