These brands have disappeared from Tesco due to Brexit

Oh Brexit.

Have you heard about this?

Brexit has had a number of consequences and the latest development is that brand names, under the company Unilever, are not being sold in Tesco for the foreseeable future.

It’s due to a row over pricing as Unilever want to raise their prices by 10% because of how quickly the value of the pound is falling.

Since the outcome of the Brexit referendum, i.e., Britain leaving the EU, the pound has steadily fallen.

Tesco hasn’t met with Unilever’s demands and as a result, goods such as Surf, Persil, Comfort, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Dove, Colman’s, Hellmann’s, Knorr and Pot Noodle are no longer available to purchase on the retailer’s website.

This will come as disappointing news for any Irish people living in the UK and it’s also likely to affect shoppers in Northern Ireland until an agreement is reached.

According to The Guardian, a Tesco spokesperson commented on the issue:

“We are experiencing availability issues on a number of Unilever products.

“We always work to ensure customers get the best possible prices and we hope to have this issue resolved soon”.
