As part of our January health-kick, we’re cooking a lot more from home so this kitchen sounds like our dream purchase.

Whirlpool have unveiled a new concept that shows what your kitchen could look like in the year 2020, based on currently available technology.

The company said that kitchen surfaces will act like touchscreens and integrate with video conferencing, text messages and alerts from social-network feeds.

According to Mashable, you’ll be able to put a pot anywhere on a surface and it will detect the item, and start heating it up.

The kitchen will also contain smart vessels, containers that carry food items and keep track of their freshness, amount and weight. By collecting this information, it will be able to offer recipe suggestions based on food you have sitting around and alert you to food approaching their use-by date while they’re still edible.

“We don’t have a firm date in the future, though we are using this as a place to start the discussion. We want to make sure we are ready for a more connected experience when our consumers are, too. This could become a reality before the 2020 timeline if we get feedback to push hard with this sooner,” said a spokesperson.

This can’t come soon enough for us!
