This teen girl blames Pokémon GO for getting hit by a car

Pay attention, Pokémon hunters.

Pokémon GO has a LOT to answer for.

Most of us can rage against the augmented reality game for time-thieving us over the entire weekend, and for forcing – FORCING – us to go outside and get some fresh air, exercise and, shudder, interact with likeminded people.

There are a few people, however, for whom the game poses a clear and present danger. For instance, there are the guys that fell off a cliff while chasing characters (don’t worry, the lived).

Then there’s American teenager Autumn Deiseroth, who was involved in a car accident in her native Pittsburgh last week. The 15-year-old was out “catching ’em all” when the game led her to a busy intersection.

“It took me to the museum, and I got it, and walked back to the highway,” Autumn explains.

She made it across the street safely the first time as she captured Pokémon, but was then hit as she crossed back over.

“To where it is set up, we have to cross roads to go get it,” the teen said. “I do blame it.”

“Kids don’t just cross the highway for no reason,” her mother Tracy Nolan adds. “This thing had her walking across a highway. I was like, ‘That damn game’. I shouldn’t have let her play it.”
