Now, we don’t know about you but we’re pretty sure Taesha Benson can pretty much say that she gave her boyfriend the best Valentine’s Day present ever. Why? Well, Taesha donated her kidney to him in order to save his life.
Oh and we should probably mention that she did it despite the fact that herself and her sweetheart had been dating for less than a year.
The New York Daily News reports that Taesha’s decision to donate her kidney to Travis Spire-Sweet came after she found out that she was a perfect match for her boyfriend, who struggled with a partially functioning kidney since birth.
Taesha and Travis have only been a couple for less than a year, but Taesha said that she instinctively knew that giving Travis her kidney was “the right decision” to make.

“Initially you think, ‘How could I do that? I don’t have it in me.’ But over time I got to know Travis and his love of life,” said Taesha.
“Not many people come along who have his integrity, character and optimism. Travis just happens to be my boyfriend. He has provided me with a new love of life,” she added.
The couple underwent surgery at Kansas City Hospital in Missouri last week and they spent their Valentine’s Day recovering at home together.
Travis said that he was absolutely overwhelmed by his girlfriend’s actions and that it was extraordinary that his new kidney came from someone that he loved so much.
“I leaned over and saw that she was awake after the surgery and she was okay,” said Travis.
“And I was, like, ‘That’s the person who saved my life.’ I couldn’t have asked to do it with someone more precious and special,” he added.
