A man was left shocked after receiving the bill for his vodka and Coke on holiday in Turkey.
The man took to TikTok to express his thoughts on the future of popular tourist destination Marmaris in Turkey after experiencing a price hike on his latest trip.
Marmaris has seen a noticeable dip in tourists this year as those visiting have shared their concerns on social media.
The downturn in tourism of this usually bustling resort is being put down to the increase in costs this season.
The man, known as @marmarislovers on TikTok, appears to work in tourism and claimed he thinks ‘Marmaris will have no tourists in 2025’.
He said: “This season has been so quiet, it's sad to see. Also 2025 has 15 per cent price increase again. Vodka and Coke already £15 (€17) alone. Can go Dubai for same price.”
Many viewers were gobsmacked by the revelation of how pricey the holiday destination has become.
One woman replied saying it has ‘been going on for 20 years’ and has sworn not to return.
A second said: “I'm here right now. The money I've spent here, I could have done a banging 10/10 Thailand holiday.”
While a third commented: “It's such a shame for Turkey. I've been going years but won't be going again.”
Some believed the man was over-exaggerating as one person said: “I'd love to know where this £15 vodka and Coke is. I've been paying like 250 lira (€6.60) for two.”
Another added: “I'm literally just back from Turkey. Going back again in October for 10 days, then booked again for next year in July. Then hopefully again in October next year too.”
While a third fan said: “Turkey is the best place. Been going for 25 years. Amazing, clean and people can't do enough. Respect the country and people.”
