According to Newsner, Paul and Tim were overwhelmed by the gesture, with Tim posting to Facebook:
“Such a selfless and kind act. I definitely urge my friends to make a trip out and support the business, and if Liz happens to be your waitress, tip big.”
The story of kindness doesn’t end there, with the firefighters later learning that Liz was actually fundraising herself to make her home wheelchair accessible after her father suffered a brain aneurysm.
Her father is a quadriplegic who has been paralysed for five years.
Returning to Facebook, the firemen wrote:
“Turns out, the young lady who gave us a free meal is really the one that could use the help.”
Numerous anonymous donations poured in and Liz has now incredibly collected over USD $80,000, which will help her keep her father comfortable at home.
Thanking the firemen for their help, Liz said:
