WATCH: JANDO’s Christmas ad about loved ones abroad has us in tears

We're 100% crying.

Niamh Maher

“What is it about this time of year that makes us think about the places we miss most?”

It’s a great question posed by JANDO in their new Christmas ad which, to be perfectly honest, has left us in absolute bits. If you’re not familiar with JANDO, they’re an Irish printmaking business, founded in 2015 by husband and wife, Julie and Owen Mc Loughlin. We’ve featured them here at Her many times before, we’re massive fans of their work which beautifully combines architecture, pop culture, colour and the places we love most.

This year has been rough on so many and Christmas, as we know, has always been the time for those abroad to come home. The reality is that many families will not be together this year and JANDO’s new Christmas ad captures beautifully how important home is to all of us.

Something we should all remember is that yes, a home is usually where family is, but if this year has taught us anything it’s that staying connected to those we love is just as important as being somewhere physically.

I’m 100% crying every single time I watch that.

The message is clear; being side-by-side with people you love will not be the be-all and end-all this holiday season, you can show you care with a phone call, by sending a thoughtful gift, even a funny voice note could be just what somebody needs in their day.

We’ll leave you with the wise words of JANDO, “Sure isn’t a place only a space we fill with memories.”

Amen to that.
