A woman was dragged along a Tube platform in London sustaining injuries to her neck and back, after her scarf got caught in the door.

The passenger was attempting to board the train at the station when her scarf got jammed in the door of the tram. The driver did not notice that the clothing was still attached and began to depart, dragging the woman for ten metres before a staff member intervened.

According to the Daily Mail, the worker grabbed the woman as she fell to the ground and the scarf was forcibly removed from her neck, freeing her from the moving train.

‘The quick thinking of our staff during this incident prevented further injury to the customer, and all of our safety procedures and warnings were carried out as normal before the train moved away from the platform,” said Nigel Holness, Operations Director for the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines.

‘Thankfully, incidents of this nature are extremely rare on our network and the Tube is one of the safest railways in the world following heavy investment in safety improvements, and we are constantly seeking to further improve our excellent safety record.”
