Woman Shares Graphic Photos To Highlight The Potential Danger Of Using Sunbeds

Lorraine Henderson took to Facebook recently to warn others of how “sunbeds and sun can leave permanent damage”.

Speaking to STV News, Lorraine talked about how she would use the High Impact setting when using sunbeds and how a tan would help to up her confidence.

Lorraine found it difficult to share her story initially but then she decided it was important that people were aware of how damaging sunbeds can be.

Explaining that it took her “a few weeks to come to terms” with the diagnosis, Lorraine posted the below on her Facebook page:

“Has took me a few weeks 2 come 2 terms with this b4 I posted…I had a spot on my face for over a yr then thinking the sun wld clear it up and didn’t, a gd friend advised me 2 get this checked out in which I did…one look and was told I had skin cancer…not lking 4 any sympathy comments, wld jst like 2 put out there that after years of abusing sunbeds not putting the proper suncream on has resulted in a permanent scar on my face. BE AWARE. SUNBEDS, SUN, DOES LEAVE PERMANENT DAMAGE!!”

Lorraine said that she often used sunbeds in preparation for holidays abroad and again when she returned in order to prolong her colour.

The Scottish native explained that a mark developed on her face about a year ago and at first, she thought nothing of it.

However, a visit to her dermatologist revealed that the growth was, in fact, skin cancer.
