Dating is difficult. There are a lot of boring, rude, and generally uninteresting people out there. There are also people that you simply don't want to go out with because they're just not your vibe, you have nothing in common, or you're simply not attracted to them. This is the world we live in. It's shit. And in this shitty world there is only so much you can do before you have to make a list of requirements for a potential future boyfriend, print it off, and leave copies in the postbox of every house in your area. What could possibly go wrong?

A lot, seemingly, because one person who received the list took it upon themselves to share it to Reddit - and Reddit, in true Reddit fashion, tore it to shreds. Here's what the letter, left in mailboxes around Melbourne, said. The woman is single, straight, and looking for a man between the age of 26 and 34. She said she's sick of the "superficiality of dating apps" and wants to meet someone the old fashioned way. Without drinking. The woman goes on to say that dating apps haven't been working all that well for her for a myriad of reasons that we can probably all relate to (dick pics, ghosting, and just general shit chat). Essentially, she's one of us. That is, until, she provides the list of requirements for her new man, including "good physical and mental health" because she is "not your therapist." Right. The rest of list was pretty much whatever (no gym obsessives, no cliché photos, got to meet in public to be safe, etc), but it was the "good mental health" and "not your therapist" comment that really grinded some gears. And it would too - this woman is looking for a serious relationship and yet she's not willing to accept that a lot of people (like, a lot) do actually experience mental health issues. And yeah, they'd probably like their partner to be a bit mindful of that fact too. One user kicked things off by calling the woman "toxic" and said that she lacked compassion for somebody who was seemingly so invested in finding a person to spend the rest of her life with. Others argued that the woman was simply asking for what each and every one of us wants in another person - someone easy.  And fair enough, but unfortunately for all of us, a relationship that easy probably doesn't exist.
