Really, girl?

genocide

Oh.

The daughter of Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev was caught taking selfies during her dad’s UN speech about genocide.

Leyla Aliyeva accompanied her dad to the UN General Assembly in New York where he was giving a speech about the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan which took place in the ’80s and ’90s.

The war that Aliyev was discussing killed over 600 Azerbaijanis.

However, soon after he began speaking, his daughter whipped out her phone and started taking selfies.

And these weren’t just any selfies.

These were selfies you just don’t want to be caught taking when someone in the room is trying to talk about genocide.

Yep.

Naturally, Leyla’s selfie skills were caught on camera and showcased to the world.

Understandably, people were not impressed.

President Aliyev however still continued on with his speech.

He spoke about the Khodjaly genocide committed by Armenia and the hundreds who died during this time.

“As a result of Armenian aggression, more than one million of Azerbaijanis became refugees and internally displaced persons.

The Khodjaly genocide is already officially recognized by more than 20 countries. On February 26, 1992, Armenia committed a war crime, killing 613 peaceful residents, including 106 women and 63 children.”

It is not yet known whether Leyla is aware that the world saw her taking selfies during a speech about genocide.
