Silent Night has topped the poll as the favourite Christmas carol. The popular carol, which featured in this year’s nostalgic Sainbury’s WWI Christmas ad, has nabbed the number one spot for the first time since 2003.

The classic tune has pipped O Holy Night to be crowned the carol most people look forward to hearing during the festive season.

O Holy Night was bumped to second place for the first time since 2003, followed by Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.

In the Bleak Midwinter is shockingly in at number four (we’re still stunned it made the cut), followed by a much livelier O Come All Ye Faithful to perk things up at number five.
