Very bad news for fans.

After weeks of speculation the GAA have confirmed that only three of the planned five Garth Brooks concerts at Croke Park will go ahead.

RTÉ reports that concerts will go ahead on 25, 26, and 27 July, the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights of the planned run.

The news spells heartbreak for 160,000 ticket-holders who planned to attend the Monday and Tuesday night events.

400,000 tickets have already been sold for the five sold-out shows.

RTÉ adds that there is no right of appeal against the council’s decision except by going to the courts.

Early reports suggested that promoters were looking to move the events to an alternative venue, but this has now been mooted also.
