Everything we know about the new Westlife album so far

Sarah McKenna Barry

Absolutely BUZZING for this one, lads.

Christmas came early for Westlife fans this morning after Nicky Byrne confirmed that they have finished recording their highly anticipated upcoming album.

As one of the biggest Irish bands of all time, many fans, naturally, were overwhelmed with the news, so to clear things up, we’ve put together absolutely everything we know so far about the album, as well as their comeback generally.

On top of that, we’ll have our finger on the pulse and give you any further updates as soon as they come in.

When can I get my hands on it?

According to Nicky, we may be able to listen to the new music within the next two to three months. On top of that, it’s possible our boys may treat us to a cheeky single before it’s out.

Nicky said: “Now fully recorded, it’s currently in the oven and cooking time is approx 2/3 months. We may open the door at some point to sample our brand spanking new single as a starter.”

Yes please, Nicky.

Who’s involved this time around?

All current members of the band – Shane Filan, Markus Feehily, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne – will feature on the album. As it stands, there’s no indication that Brian McFadden will be making a long-awaited return.

What will the Westlife album be called?

The record’s working title is, according to Nicky, BangersNMash. Whether or not it will actually be called this, or if it’s some sort of private joke remains to be seen. Either way, we can’t wait.

What will it sound like?

It’s possible the music will be a bit of departure from the trademark Westlife tunes we know so well. The lads parted ways with their long-term music label EMI earlier this year, so we’re preparing our ears for a fresh new sound.

Is a tour on the way?

Yes! The guys have plans to embark on their “biggest world tour” in the near future, and you can bet your bottom dollar that we’ll be camping outside Ticketmaster long in advance.

Will the Westlife album save 2021?

Yes, absolutely hon.
