Tragic news this morning.
An 11-year-old girl has died following a road traffic collision in Co Kerry.
The girl, a cyclist, passed away following the incident outside Abbeydorney, Tralee, on Monday evening at approximately 7.30p.m.
She was taken to Tralee University Hospital with serious injuries, where she later died. The driver of the van involved in the collision, a man in his 50s, was also taken to Tralee University Hospital for treatment.
The road remains closed as a technical examination of the scene is being conducted and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward, and anyone who may have camera footage (including dash cam) to make it available to Gardaí.
