Cheltenham Magistrates Court has heard that a 12-year-old boy repeatedly raped his sister after he became addicted to hard-core incest porn online.
The court heard that when the mother of the two children became aware of the abuse, the boy claimed his sister consented.
According to The
Metro, Prosecutor Ian Fenny said that the boy told his sister they wouldn’t be siblings anymore if she did not have intercourse with him.
He said of the abuse that the incidences were not isolated.
“They were not solitary acts and had taken place in her bedroom at a time when he was sure he wouldn’t be disturbed.”
Fenny continued to say that cases of this nature had become increasingly common due to young people’s access to pornographic material.
“'Cases of this nature will increasingly come before the court because of the access young people now have to hard core pornography,” he said.
The boy, now 14, pleaded guilty to six counts of rape and was given a 12-month referral order. The boy is also banned from having contact with anyone under the age of 16, including his sister.
“If you bump into anyone under the age of 16 then you have to walk away – you cannot associate with them,” ordered Judge Boba-Rai.
“When you come out of the treatment unit at 16 you will still have police monitoring you until the age of 19.”
The boy will spend time in a treatment unit, after which it is unclear whether he will return to live at home.
He is allowed restricted access to the internet.
Defence solicitor Gareth James told
The Daily Mail that the incident as an “experimentation of a sort, albeit completely inappropriate.”
James said porn influenced the boy.
“Je does seem to have been exposed to material that was inappropriate for somebody his age and that has played a part in his offending because he has tried to enact what he saw with his sister.”
