The investigation into the case is ongoing.

Gardaí in Co. Cork have identified a 13-year-old boy as a person of interest following the attack of a woman over the weekend.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was assaulted while walking in the Evergreen Street area on Saturday evening. It is understood that the attacker punched her several times, and after she fought back, he fled the scene.

The woman was subsequently taken to Cork University Hospital where she received treatment for her injuries, which are said to be non-life-threatening.

Now, as the Irish Times reports, Gardaí have identified a 13-year-old boy as a person of interest as they continue their investigation.

Gardaí continue to appeal to any witnesses of the attack to come forward. They are particularly appealing to anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the area at around 11pm on Saturday night to get in touch. Additionally, they are urging any motorists who were travelling in the area and who may have dash cam footage to contact them.
