Boy charged with rape and sexual assault appears before children’s court
The alleged incidents took place in Dublin in 2019.
An unnamed 16-year-old boy appeared before Dublin Children’s Court yesterday, charged with rape and sexual assault that allegedly took place in Dublin two years ago when he was 14-years-old.
The Irish Times reports that the incident allegedly occurred on a date in August 2019, at two locations in north Dublin.
Because of the rape charge, the case will go before the Central Criminal Court. A preliminary hearing is to be held to decide if the second charge should also go forward to the higher court as well, or remain in the Children’s Court.
The boy was accompanied to court by his mother and is ordered to appear again next month after bail conditions were imposed.
