A 14-year-old girl has died after being electrocuted by an iPhone cable in her sleep.

Le Thi Xoan is thought to have touched the broken cable while she slept.

She was then electrocuted.

The girl was discovered unconscious by her parents and taken to a hospital in Hanoi, Vietnam where she was pronounced dead.

It is not yet known whether the cable was issued with the device or a third-party product.

The Sun reports that Vietnamese police found the white cable in the teenager’s bed. It had been taped at the end but live wires were still exposed through the rubber casing.

They also said that the girl regularly slept with her iPhone 6 charging in the bed beside her.

It is believed that she rolled onto the cable in her sleep.
