A 15-year-old was taken to hospital last night after a suspected ecstasy overdose.

According to reports, the teenager was celebrating with friends when he collapsed to the ground on D’Olier Street in Dublin city.

Paramedics brought him to St James’s Hospital and friends of the teenager say he was conscious and breathing at the time. There has been no further word on his condition.

There were also reports of bottles being thrown at the Luas near the Harcourt Street stop and two groups of teenagers were involved in a fight near O’Connell Bridge, reports the Irish Mirror.

Councillor Mannix Flynn said: “It happens after all the big events. Young people get alcohol by getting adults to buy it or store it up, or even get hold of drugs.

“They go experimenting and it can be fatal. There were ugly fights nearby in the capital as young teens could be seen passed out in their own vomit or urinating in public”.
