At a sitting of Belfast Crown Court, 20-year-old Conaire Adams-Whyte has admitted to raping and leaving a 12-year-old girl pregnant.
According to reports by
The Belfast Telegraph, the man has been released on bail and is now living at a secret address, believing his life is threatened by dissident republicans.
Police initially launched investigations after the girl became pregnant in July 2015.
With his guilty plea, comes details about the crime. According to reports, Whyte gained access to the child when a female relative was due to babysit. She was not at home when the young girl was dropped off, but Whyte was present at the time.
The victim gave birth in April of this year, making her one of the UKs youngest mothers.
DNA tests confirmed that Whyte was the father, though he initially denied involvement.
Whyte will be prevented from having anything to do with the child he fathered, and will also be stripped of his rights to see another child he also fathered.
A source told The Sunday Life that Whyte will not be welcomed in the area.
"Conaire will be risking his life if he comes back here, the community is outraged at his behaviour. Not only was his victim just 12 years old, she is also extremely vulnerable.”
"That b*****d took advantage of that, raped her, got her pregnant, then denied being the father until DNA evidence proved otherwise."
