25-Year-Old Man Dies After Shooting Incident In Finglas Dublin

A well-known dissident republican has died following a shooting incident in Finglas, Dublin yesterday.

25-year-old Vincent Ryan was shot on McKee road, Finglas at around 3:15pm yesterday and was taken to the Mater Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

According to RTÉ, Gardaí report that Vincent was shot while sitting in his car, a white Volkswagen Golf, by someone driving a silver or grey Volkswagen Golf.

The latter vehicle fled the scene after a number of shots were fired, and headed in the direction of Clune Road and Jamestown Road.

Vincent was well-known to the Gardaí and was previously charged before the Special Criminal Court with possession of a rifle and handgun, and later aquitted.

Superintendent John Quirke from Finglas Garda Station appealed for anyone who may have been in the McKee road area or may have any information to contact gardaí.

He also appealed for anyone with information regarding a burnt out car found in the Victoria Bridge area on the Naas to Rathangan Road, which may have been involved in the incident, to contact them.
