30 year old man charged with murder of father on Sunday

A 30 year old man has been charged with the murder of his own father in Dublin today.

The incident occurred on Sunday night, Father’s Day, in Firhouse, Dublin and the accused had been in custody at Tallaght District Court, according to RTE News.

Gareth Sheeran appeared in court this morning, accused of murdering his father Harry Sheeran, 65, at his home at Carriglea View on Sunday night. His son was living at the home with him.

The father of two was attacked and then stabbed to death, and since been charged with the crime.

Just before midnight on Sunday, emergency services were called to the Sheeran home where it was discovered that Harry had been assaulted. He was pronounced dead later on.

It was then announced yesterday that someone had been arrested in relation to the crime, appearing at the Tallaght District Court at 10.30am today.

A postmortem is due to be carried out at a later date by the State Pathologist, according to TheJournal.
