Positive news this morning.

Pharmaceutical company MSD is set to create 330 jobs in Ireland over the next three years, reports RTÉ News.

The jobs will come on stream in MSD’s plants in Cork and Carlow and are being created due to international demand for its medicine and vaccines, the company has said.

Around 220 of the new jobs will be based in Brinny in County Cork, where the company develops and produces drugs for diseases including lung cancer, melanoma and hepatitis C.

The rest will be in Carlow town, where MSD’s first stand-alone vaccine and biologics plant outside the US is.

The jobs will include technical, engineering, biochemistry, biology, quality and operations positions and will bring to 1,900 the number of people employed in Ireland by the company.
