Heartbreaking news.

A seven-year-old boy passed away last night after he was hit by a truck in a “workplace accident” in Dublin.

The young boy was rushed to Temple Street Children’s Hospital following the incident where he died a few hours later.

The man driving the vehicle is reported to be in his 30s and was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred on St Joseph’s Way in Ballymun where a garda spokesperson told the Herald that it was a “workplace accident”.

Ballymun Cllr Noeleen Reilly also spoke to the Herald following the death of the boy.

She said:

“It’s absolutely dreadful to hear that something so awful has happened in this community.

“The loss of anyone is tragic, but to hear that a child has died is just heartbreaking.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very sad time and I would appeal to anyone that witnessed this accident to contact the gardaí.”
