7-year-old boy dies after being hit by a service truck in Dublin
A seven-year-old boy passed away last night after he was hit by a truck in a "workplace accident" in Dublin.
The young boy was rushed to Temple Street Children's Hospital following the incident where he died a few hours later.
The man driving the vehicle is reported to be in his 30s and was also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred on St Joseph's Way in Ballymun where a garda spokesperson told the Herald that it was a "workplace accident".
Ballymun Cllr Noeleen Reilly also spoke to the Herald following the death of the boy.
“It’s absolutely dreadful to hear that something so awful has happened in this community.
“The loss of anyone is tragic, but to hear that a child has died is just heartbreaking.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this very sad time and I would appeal to anyone that witnessed this accident to contact the gardaí.”
