An Irish man has died following a drowning incident in Thailand.
It is being reported this evening that the 24-year-old backpacker from Dungarvan in Co Waterford died after going missing on the way back to his hotel.
He has been named locally as David Houlihan, with Dungarvan GAA Club opening its clubhouse this evening for local people affected by the tragedy.

Friends have begun to pay tribute to the popular GAA player online, describing him as “a true gentleman and a real character”.
The Department Of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that it is providing assistance to his family.
