Gardai investigate alleged gang rape of a woman in west Dublin early this morning

The cyclist was raped on the Ninth Lock Road in Clondalkin in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The victim was walking down a road with her bike on Neilstown Road in Clondalkin at approximately 3am, when three men accosted her, attacking her and dragging her to a concealed area of a park.

Reports say that the woman was raped by at least one of the men, with the counts of violence committed by the other men not yet known.

Gardaí are investigating the situation and have sealed off the scene of the crime.

A spokesman for the Gardaí has appealed for any information in relation to the case.

“Gardai at Ronanstown are investigating an alleged sexual assault of a female which occurred at approximately 3.20am this morning in the Newlands Road area of Clondalkin.

“No arrests have been made and gardai are appealing for witnesses or any person with information to contact them at Ronanastown Garda Station on 01 666 7700.”

The condition of the rape victim has not been confirmed, but it was reported she was brought to the Rotunda Hospital following the attack.

Clondalkin has been trending on Twitter since the reporting of the attack with people expressing their horror, anger and disgust at the barbaric attack.
