AIB issue statement about delays to incoming payments

Olivia Hayes

Well, crap.

If you’re an AIB customer and you’re expecting a payment today, you could be waiting a while.

AIB issued a statement this morning informing its customers that due to a European Bank Holiday yesterday, there will be a delay with money going into people’s accounts.

The statement read: “Due to the European Bank Holiday yesterday, there is a slight delay in incoming payments this morning.

“Any payments due into customers’ accounts will be applied throughout the day. Please continue to monitor your account. Thanks for your patience.”

Many customers have been left angered with the bank’s response, as they believe this could have been dealt with in advance.

One customer said: “This was completely foreseeable and thus avoidable. I am very frustrated and annoyed.”

While another wrote: “Why does a European bank holiday affect Irish employees getting paid by Irish employers on time? Was yesterday a mid-week bank holiday for all your staff?”

Have you been affected this morning?
