Aldi has asked customers to return one of its food product to stores.

The supermarket chain issued a recall of a number of batches of its meat-free mince over safety concerns.

It said it was recalling certain packs of Mae’s Kitchen Frozen Meat-Free Mince “due to the possible presence of small pieces of blue plastic.”

Batches numbered 095, 109, 122, 150 and 152 with best before dates of April 2018, May 2018 and June 2018 are those affected, Aldi has said.

It urged anyone who had bought packs with these dates not to eat it.

“Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store, where a full refund will be given,” the retailer said in a statement.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your co-operation.”

The vegetarian mince originated in the UK, Aldi said.
